Planting Trees in The Fall

Autumn is considered one of the best tree-planting seasons because the weather is cool and the ground isn't frozen over yet. Here are some things to keep in mind if you're planning to plant a tree during this time of year :

  • The soil should be moist and fall apart easily when crumbled.

  • Using mulch can reduce freezing and improve water penetration to the roots of your tree.

  • Use fertilizer while planting to keep your tree and its roots healthy.

  • Avoid planting your tree in a pot so it has more space to spread out and grow.

  • If the weather is on the colder side, it is important to slowly introduce your tree to this environment as not to shock it.

  • Dig the hole you want to plant your tree in during the spring, before the ground gets too cold.

  • Use burlap cloth to wrap the trunk of your tree if you're worried about frost cracks or breakage caused by snow.

  • It is best to store trees in a cool, dark environment if you're not ready to plant them right away.

Happy planting!
